ALSO WE AREN'T TALKING ABOUT HOW SKINS WAS CANCELED??
DEVASTATED.
Okay, that was my immediate reaction, and I’m not, really, because this means I don’t have to get to force myself to like a new cast or anything. But Skins had somehow come to feel like an institution and now it’s just going to be one show that was sort of important for a blip in the 2000’s. I’m a little disappointed, I guess. Not devastated.
But I kind of am devastated. Because the hope of loving the new Skins cast is fun! It’s a whole waiting and and speculating. But I see how they could think, how can we create characters that are both NEW and “SKINS,” and perhaps the ideas are exhausted? Maybe we can even say that the best ideas were exhausted with seasons 1&2..
I think there are a lot of ideas they never explored… but they explored all of their ideas. This season has repeated so many past storylines that I can see how it’s run it’s course as a series… and yet… and yet the premise of new characters every two years is actually the only kind of series that should run for like 12 seasons. C’mon Brits!

Skins trailer for season six! There were some issues with the last season but the long break (combined with a fairly subpar season of Misfits and the depressing lack of Inbetweeners) really made this cast grow on me. The trailer is standard Skins: quick cuts of teenagers fighting, partying, crying, dancing, and smashing things ultimately leading to some disaster — all set to some hip indie song I’ve never heard of. It makes me feel very old, actually. But! The internets are already debating which character (if any) is going to die so, Skins death pool 2k12? Let’s get our bets in by January 23.
My money is on Grace. That shot of her on a home video? Death warrant. I’ll be really sad - I hope it’s Liv or Mattie instead. No one likes Mattie.
