Dan Harmon fired from Community showrunner postion

This article keeps worrying about a fan backlash that will cause ratings to sink. I’m really not concerned about that. We’ll tune in for the season premier regardless.

Am I worried that the show will lose its spark without Harmon? Yes. But I’m also willing to see if the remaining staff can preserve the brilliance of the show.

Much has been written about Dan Harmon’s genius, but the staff writers should understand the tone of the show at this point.

I really don’t want a Community that’s geared towards mass appeal, but let’s face it 13 episodes is way too short a time for me to give up on one of my favorite shows. Case in point: I’m still watching Glee.

TV Overkill Podcast. Now up on iTunes!

Hello followers! and followers of followers, etc…. In December Alex and I got together and recorded a podcast discussing some of our favorite current shows. Check it out!

I’ve answered a few questions you might have about this:

Christina, why do you sound so gross?

Because I had a really bad cold. Pro tip: don’t record a podcast when you can barely breath!

This episode is clearly dated! WTF?

Yeah, we recorded this at the beginning of December and then I took a really long time to edit, find a host, get it on iTunes.

Is that really going to be your theme music?

No, I didn’t plan ahead and choose something awesome. The music will probably be different for the next episode.

Wow, this was so great! When will the next one be up?

We will record a new episode near the end of January, and hopefully it will be up within a few days.

I know it’s silly to worry this much about a tv show, but actually maybe it’s not. Think about how many people Community employs. How many talented writers and actors will be out of a job AND unable to showcase their work. Not to mention the crew and post-production team. So you see I’m not freaking out over losing some (much needed) entertainment on Thursday nights, I’m freaking out about the economy. I just care about America guys. If you care about America, then you need to get involved with this campaign.

I always loved Community - the writing, the casting - it was perfect, but it wasn’t until “Paradigms of Human Memory” that I truly appreciated its genius.
