OMG I just remembered my amazing dream from last night. Robert Sheehan became a film teacher at my sister’s high school and she was in his class. She told me about him and I decided to go over there and ask him out, but when I got there it turned out he was already dating another teacher. I went over to her classroom to figure out her weaknesses. She was a beautiful Spanish teacher with super long dark hair. During her lessons she would occasionally swig from the giant bottle of tequila she kept on her desk. I couldn’t find any weaknesses to defeat her with so I returned home to plot. While I was sitting there, plotting, I decided to watch the state of the union. As the camera panned over the audience I noticed Robert sitting there in a lavender suit (btw lavender is TOTALLY his color). It turns out that his dad is a US senator and he moved back to America to reconnect with him. Then when Obama paused Robert got up and started dropping some truth bombs. I can’t remember exactly what he said. It was both hilarious and offensive and definitely address the fact that Obama was saying a bunch of things that people would nod and clap about that night, but then fight him tooth and nail on the next day. After his speech I went to bed, and then some more stuff happened, but I woke up to real life before I could see Sheenhanigans again. And that made me pretty sad.
I’m in charge of organizing the service project for the 30 Hour Famine my church youth group is doing. A few weeks ago I contacted 7 organizations focusing on local hunger. So far I’ve gotten two rejections and three “we’ll get back to you”s. Now I would think “Hey, these people are out in the community doing good work and don’t have time to organize volunteer groups”, except that I’m contacting staff members listed as volunteer organizers. Isn’t their main function to organize volunteer groups?
The event isn’t until the end of march - so I’m not annoyed, frustrated, or stressed by this… I’m just bemused.
When you grow up it turns out snow days are the opposite of relaxing. Maybe this just has to do with the nature of my job, but I’ve had twice the work with half the resources. If I didn’t have a bag of york pieces in my room I wouldn’t have had anything to eat, because I’ve been too busy to go to the kitchen. I’m gonna post some really pretty pictures of my yard after quitting time though!
The high school I attended now has it's own Gossip Girl
My sister told me this news while we were watching Skins together. She read me updates as the story broke on Facebook. I’ve gotta give this kid props for creativity and guts. (let us assume) She is clearly a fan of gossip girl lingo, and her first post was almost as humorous as it was scathing. Unlike the columnist of the series she doesn’t have much gossip to share though - probably a good thing. It’s all fun and games until someone sues you for libel.
So far my favorite part of this whole event has been a 26 comment Facebook thread all from people in my grade. The comments range from “sounds like someone needs a hobby, I hear knitting is relaxing” to complimenting her to comparing this to the dramarama of dead journal. Now they’re arguing. This is what it means to be 2.0.
